In January, we got to have Lindsey Seiler join us; in February we welcomed Ken Simpson; in April Emily Foust returned after a Covid hiatus; in May we added Saba and Sarina and in June we welcomed Jessie and G to our amazing community.
Over the past two months we have added four new staff members!! In April, Travis and Mackenzie joined our team and last month we added Claire and Justin to the mix. Each of them has already made a huge difference and we are so grateful to have them!
Summerhouse hosted its inaugural golf tournament at BlackHorse Golf Club on Wednesday, May 11th. Our SHH board member, Hugo Guerrero, served as the tournament chairman that hosted 144 golfers. SHH members were on hand supporting the golfers through staffing a course hole, providing refreshments to attendees and working on their golf game at the putting greens. Summit Midstream served as the title sponsor with Volumetrics and Battalion Oil being recognized as the champion sponsors.
Tournament founder sponsors included Avangard Innovative, Quarter Turn Resources and Ardent Services. The event culminated with an awards ceremony recognizing the top golfers and foursomes along with raffle winner announcements.
SHH would like to thank the generosity of all our sponsors and raffle contributors. We are grateful to everyone who gave of their resources, time and talents to make our first tournament a memorable one for all. We look forward to growing the tournament next year.
Summerhouse Houston was well represented on Saturday, April 23 at multiple city events. Our staff kicked off the morning by hosting a table at Spring Branch ISD’s Super Saturday celebrating 75 years. Tully Stadium served as the host site. Attendees were able to learn more about organizations in the Spring Branch area while enjoying entertainment provided by students on the mainstage. “Having the platform to share SHH’s mission with our community made the event incredibly impactful,” commented SHH’s community relations director, Kimberly Miller.
Across town, at Memorial Park, SHH supported the efforts of Volunteer Houston, a non profit that connects individuals with a variety of organizations across the Greater Houston area. Event goers were able to learn more about the non profits in attendance along with their volunteer needs. It was an ideal way to unite participants with worthy causes in one location.
Our supported employment team is searching for a 3D digital artist and office assistant positions. Do you know of a possible opportunity? Please send inquiries to Raquel Smith (raquel@summerhousehouston.org).
Thanks to the incredible generosity of Joe and Lytane Briers of Southwest Pipe Services Inc., we have a new 2022 Honda Odyssey van! The Briers presented Michelle Howard, along with board members Hugo Guerrero and Walt Cameron, the keys to the new vehicle on February 8th. The much-needed addition of the van will support our efforts to be out and about in the community. SHH is so grateful to the Briers for their continued support of our mission.
Rise Against Hunger has become one of Summerhouse's favorite volunteer sites. Our members love the feeling of being included and appreciated at RAH. One of our members, Bekah, truly enjoyed the opportunities so much and was offered a job helping wash the dishes and tubs used in the warehouse!
